Study
My mindset is slowly shifting from a focus on playing to build $$$ mentality to one that focuses on improving by studying. I think this largely stems from a more long-term perspective and realising where I want to be and playing with some studying won’t get me there. Of course, with that being said, I realise it’s still important to build $$$ to facilitate the playing higher so it will always be a balance but the ratio between playing and studying is for sure becoming more balanced than it once was.
I took a week in the middle of the month off to get caught up on all Seminars I had missed without rushing through them and organised my notes as I had about half a dozen different documents which was just a pain. I’ve consolidated everything in a single OneNote workbook which is far easier to maintain and recap from.
Seminars
I’ve been continuing with the Seminars delivered by the Mammoth Team. I need to start doing my own deeper dives into the topics presented and treating them as an intro to the topic rather than watching, taking notes and recapping on those notes.
Warm-up routine
I’ve generally been drilling 200-500 hands of pre-flop prior to each session, focusing on the pre-flop mistakes I had been making that were raised with my DB review. I will likely look to expand this to playing from pre-flop to showdown soon but at the moment the focus is nailing the fundamentals.
Self-Study Sessions
Mostly been doing recapping on Flop fundamentals i.e. c-betting, x/r, BvB etc. to ensure I’m not making massive mistakes, so lots of aggregate report reviewing this month. I want to reintroduce more work with HRC over the next month and continue to take that forward as I’ve been abit lazy with using it and it’s probably one of the most important tools to be utilising. In addition to that, the new AI Wizard feature will be introduced to my study routine for sure in future after playing about with it sporadically in the month.
Playing
I’ve mostly continued to play 3 sessions per week, starting from around noon and taking this through till the evening. This works well for me as opposed to starting from 6pm and playing through till 7am, that just wouldn’t fit into my routine whereas finishing at 1am with the occasional very deep taking me through till 4/5am works well.
I am continuing to 12 table and reducing this around when the top end of the buy in range starts to come on screen. On average I suspect at any one time I have 8-10 tables on the screen and then 12 at peak times. I feel focused so am not too concerned but I’ll keep it closely monitored to make sure I’m not punting due to lack of good decision making.
I’ll post a graph below but I had a super tough time on the 3 sessions I played last week, pretty much went 170 games without cashes anything other than bounties. I of course did review and as always found some mistakes but generally just felt like one of those things that happens, is what it is! This month was very testing at points and very rewarding at others which in a nut shell, is poker! I am sure it is abundantly clear which points were which when you look at the below graph;
ABI crept up a little this month to $16 as I have been selling action on GG for mostly $44-$88 range and then the GGMasters $150 on Sunday. Whilst the $ results have been lacklustre thus far; the selling has been a huge success. Thank you to everyone who has been buying, I appreciate you see it as an investment, so I am working hard for you to realise your ROI. If you ever have any feedback at all, please let me know.
For those of you that are interested in buying on GG, message me on Discord or you can find me selling mostly on Wednesday, Friday and Sundays.
Looking Ahead
A big month coming up, we have WCOOP, OSS XL and WSOP Online so lots of grinding, studying and hopefully winning lots of $$$.
- I will continue with my 3 sessions per week.
- Seminars will take a break so I’ll be using this time to recap on previous topics and expand on those topics I think that will have the most impact on win rate.
- Warm-up routine is more important than ever so I will not miss a single warm-up.
- For self-study I’ll continue my work on the seminar topics, reviewing hands and building better fundamentals.
I’ve decided to sell some pieces for WCOOP, I’m currently looking to sell for these games below so let me know if of interest;
